Culture & history in the region
Do you want to bring your primal instincts to life?
Then we would love to take you back to the Stone Age. In the Ötzi-Dorf (Ötzi-village), you can experience for yourself what life was like around 5,300 years ago and learn all about the famous Iceman at the same time.
If you want to understand the Ötztal better,
doesn't necessarily have to take a language course (although that certainly wouldn't hurt). A visit to the Ötztal Nature Park in Längenfeld is far more informative. There, the many special features of the valley from the summit (i.e. the Wildspitze) to the (valley) floor are explained in an interesting and informative way.
Motorcyclists Paradise
Motorised two-wheelers were already being beaten up the Timmelsjoch 50 years ago. So it should come as no surprise that the TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum is a worthy monument to these two-wheeled fireballs. Here, petrolheads and two-stroke fans can get up close and personal with over 450 motorbikes, some of them historic, and not only experience the hot stoves up close, but also learn a lot about the old pass route.
Where smuggling used to take place,
these days, it's easy to dizzy over it. We're talking about the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road. The journey up the old smugglers' route and a visit to the pass museum are a cross-border experience in the truest sense of the word. And give you both interesting insights and breathtaking views - of the special connecting route to South Tyrol.
Do you want to really take off culturally?
Then you should definitely visit Innsbruck. The sparrows have long been whistling from the Golden Roof that Tyrol's largest city has a lot to offer. And you can also marvel at crazy eagles here.
